Today I want to share with you three concepts I start each day mindful of. The simple act of thinking through these every morning, helps me prepare for, accept and handle the day’s events. Being mentally prepared for the day reduces anxiety and stress which is good for our whole body, including our skin.
The first concept is to accept that you will experience disappointment during the day. You can not control the thoughts or actions of others. Someone, maybe multiple people, will likely not live up to your expectations throughout the course of the day. How you address the disappointment is another post but accepting disappointment and not letting it get you down or ruin your day is step one. Be waiting for it and it can not derail your day. Accept it is coming.
The second concept is controlling some part of your day. Think about one thing you can control and control it. For me, I like to think of control over what I eat or when I eat or that I will exercise and lay out that plan for the day. Even if you control the same thing every day, going through the process of thinking about it gives your mind the control it wants over something, because as you know there is a lot we can not control.
The third concept is living like it is your last day. Whatever that means to you. Not being lazy, calling your family, making new connections.
These three concepts are derived from Stoic philosophy based on Marcus Aurelius’ book Meditations. I find them simple to recall and easy to incorporate.
So, for great skin health, consider starting your day with a prepared mind.
